Our Story
Brooklyn Art Cluster began in 2015, when two artists — a photographer and a visual artist — opened a studio space at 540 President Street in Gowanus. We started by building the space we needed ourselves: a place to work, to show our work, and to be part of a community.
Over time, that space grew. Through The Cluster Gallery, we began hosting exhibitions and a residency program. In 2018, we opened Playground Brooklyn, a coworking space for creatives, in the same building.
Today, our community has grown to around 100 members. And in 2026, we founded Loop & Cluster, Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to supporting artists and creatives more broadly and bringing public programming to the community.
